Saint Nicolas’ stairs, known as “art stairs” in Gemmayzeh welcome Gibran Khalil Gibran’s writings and paintings. The exhibition, which kicks off this Thursday, will last till October 3.

Brahim Samaha’s gallery Laboratoire d’art in Gemmayze and Gibran National Committee pay a special tribute to the author of The Prophet and to his work. “Khalil gibran is one of the most adulated authors in the world, but a few people here in Beirut really know about his life and his literature”, summarizes Brahim Samaha. However, this great traveller spent some years in Beirut, in the Sagesse district. It was at the beginning of his life. From this came the idea of bringing him back here. “He lived here during his childhood, then the capital has welcomed, for a moment, his mortal remains before being buried in Bcharré. We found it interesting to make him revisit Beirut, but through his writings and paintings”, adds Brahim Samaha.

For a month, spectators will freely attend readings of his writings by celebrities such as Randa Asmar and Joseph Bou Nassar. They will also discover them through songs thanks to the voice of Jahida Wehbe. Nine manuscripts and original paintings of Khalil Gibran (charcoal, oil and paint) will also be exhibited in the gallery during this month. A treasure to be discovered or rediscovered.
